Why do you think Jesus issued this more demanding call to on-the-job training and participation in His expanding movement? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These disciples left behind family and business to go \u201cfishing\u201d with Jesus. But also compare Matthew 4:18-22 and Mark 1:16-20 with Luke 5:1-11. What evidence do you find that Luke is telling of a later \u201ccalling\u201d? Note these aspects of the reports:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Luke\u2019s account is of another call to \u201cfish\u201d for people\u2014given after Jesus\u2019 tour of Galilee (Matthew 4:23-25<\/a>; Mark 1:35-39<\/a>; Luke 4:42-44<\/a>), where I think it fits\u2014it indicates their association with Jesus was on the path of<\/em> everyday life.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  3. The activities of Jesus: <\/li>\n\n\n\n

    He equipped them to fish for people<\/em> while at the same time they engaged in their vocations as fishermen on the Sea of Galilee. This is how disciplemaking happens today! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What impact do you think it had for Jesus to go to the workplace of these fishermen to call them to participate in disciplemaking with Him? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
